ACE TENNIS FREMONT RULE BOOK- Year 2020

Committee members

v  Board members and Chairman (Neel, Kiran and Polin)

Number of Players and current year participants

v  Number of players were decided on the day of annual get together on Mar-14-2020
v  Total number of Singles players: 9 (we have room to add new players)
v  Total number of Doubles players: 11, need at least 1 more player to form doubles team (we have room to add 2 more teams)
v  2020 participants
Singles: Bhanu, Sunil, Ashish, Raman, Ram, Kiran, Selva, Ganesh, Manoj
Doubles: Bhanu, Sunil, Ashish, Raman, Ram, Kiran, Selva, Ganesh, Manoj, Neel, Mathew

New member addition policy

v  New member must be identified before the tournament scheduling if necessary
v  No new player be added to the group after tournament begins or if the group limit already reached
v  New player additions will be decided by a three-member committee 
v  It’s Recommended to have up to 16 players. More players addition requires discussion within the group.

Rules (Singles/Doubles)

v  League: Round robin. Top 4 team/players will move to semis
v  Semis:   Team1/player1 to Team4/player4 ranking is based on highest scores among them in respective order from the league matches.
·         1st semis Team1/player1 vs Team4/player4
·         2nd semis Team2/player2 vs Team3/player3
v  3rd place
·         1st semis runner-up vs 2nd semis runner-up
v  Final
·         1st Semis winner vs 2nd semis Winner
v  Points
·         All matches from league to final are played as 3 set matches
·         If both the teams/player win a set each, 3rd set can be a super tie breaker if there is time restrictions or court availability issues or for any other acceptable reasons among all players.
·         Winning team/player will get 4 points per match
·         Losing team/player gets 0 point if lost in straight sets and gets 1 point if lost by winning a set
·         If a player/team withdraws from the tournament at any stage of the tournament the points earned against the player/team will be dropped.

v  Umpiring, Line calls and Dispute resolution
·         No umpiring allowed in any match at any stage of the game
·         Players should work it out among themselves wherever its necessary.
·         Line calls must be fair by all players and should be made in good spirit and faith of the sport.
·         Unless it’s clearly out no challenge should be made when called out by opponent team and unless its clearly out it should not be called out.
·         If there is a disagreement in a call, point must be replayed
·         No walkover allowed in the middle of the game and if done it’s a forfeit 
·         No personnel comments against any player allowed during or outside the game
·         Arbitration committee to resolve any dispute beyond the ability of the players.
·         The committee decision is final and binding. 
v  Tie breaker
·         A two-way tie is resolved by placing the winner of the match played between the players/teams 
·         A three-way tie is resolved by
a) one set play off between three players
b) if still a tie, number games won by a player
c) if still a tie, coin toss will decide the ranking  

v  Match Interruption and rescheduling

·         If a match is stopped for any reason below rules apply. 

§  Forfeit:  If play stopped due to   Injury, hard stop, walkout or for any other personal reason.

§  Resume:  If court time runs out, no courts are available or weather related interruption. When resumed play will continue from where it was stopped. Players responsible to communicate the current scorecard when stopped. No rematch/re-start allowed except for the game  i,e if play was stopped when score was 0-30, 30-30 or dues etc,  that game will restart.

Schedule

v  Schedule matches on Sat and Sun with some buffer weeks within the overall schedule
v  Identify players who cannot play on Sat, who cannot play on Sun and vacation plans before publishing the schedule
v  Compliance to schedule is a must. If league matches are not played as per schedule buffer weeks should be used to complete un-played matches.
v  If the match is not played on the scheduled day because of a request to postpone, it will be counted as forfeit and if the match is not played by re-scheduled date MM/DD, the result stands

Match Venue

v  All Matches played at FTC -1st choice
v  Other venue if all players agreed -2nd Choice

Tournament kickoff

v  2020 tournament is scheduled to start on first weekend of April.
v  Due to COVID-19 tournament start date has been postponed in compliance with government directive and guidelines.

Fees

v  Tournament Fee: TBD (Suggested $100) 

Prices

v  Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places
v  Medal or trophies for all participants
